Assessment Camp for Person with Disabilities organized by FAIRMED Foundation Nepal

Three days’ assessment camp for person with disabilities(PwDs) was held on 21-23 Dec 2019 in Burtibang Primary Health Center of Dhorpatan Municipality and Hatiya Health Post of Galkot Municipality. The camp was organized by FAIRMED Foundation Nepal’s Rural Health Implementation Project (RHIP II) jointly with with BYC Baglung and with technical support from International Committee of Red Cross(ICRC), Kathmandu and Green Pasture Hospital, INF, Pokhara.

During the camp, a total number of 449 people with different types of disabilities obtained the service. The disabilities were different types mainly the Orthopedically Handicapped (OH), Cerebral Palsy, physical handicapped, hearing and speech difficulty etc. The patients were examined by an Orthopedic doctor and assessed and provided with assistive devices and appliances like crutches, belt, crept bandages etc. They were first examined by the doctor and then referred to Physiotherapists and Prosthesis & Orthosis Officer for further consultation as per the need. Likewise, they were also provided with proper counselling and recommended for referral points for further treatment.

The event was attended by local Government officials, local leaders and health post doctors and staff who seemed very supportive and appreciated FAIRMED’s initiation for organizing the disability camp. During the event in Burtibang,  Mr. Dev Kumar Nepali-Mayor of Burtibang also visited the camp and personally thanked FAIRMED Foundation Nepal for organizing the event.
