FAIRMED supports Ministry of Health and Population

Fairmed Nepal responded immediately after the first COVID-19 case was detected in Nepal by extending its support to the local government in its working districts and the Ministry of Health and Population

After the formal waiver from Social Welfare Council to divert up to 20 percent of the total budget for COVID-19 response, FAIRMED participated proactively in a joint procurement initiative led by the Association of International NGOs in Nepal (AIN) along with 15 other INGOs. On May 6, 2020, 16 AIN member organizations, including FAIRMED, handed over medical assistance package worth Rs 45.3 million amidst a programme organized at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) premises.

Nirmala Sharma, Country Coordinator, represented FAIRMED Nepal at the event where Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung accompanied by Officiating Member Secretary of Social Welfare Council Shiva Kumar Basnet, and AIN Chair Achyut Kumar Luitel handed over the health commodities to the Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal.
