A former social mobilizer of UPAKAR Project, Ganesh Jyoti, lost his life in the recent flooding of Sindhupalchowk district. He is survived by his wife and three children - two daughters and a son.
Remembering Jyoti and his contributions, FAIRMED Nepal in coordination with former implementing partner MANK provided his family with some relief support in an attempt to ease their present challenges.
The relief items included food supply, kitchenware, bedding and clothing items, educational supplies for the children, two mobile phones with data connection to facilitate their online learning, among others.
With the onset of monsoon this year, Nepal witnessed heavy rainfall in most parts of the country. Continuous rain triggered flash floods and landslides everywhere, including Sindhupalchowk district in Bagmati Province. This year’s unabating rainfall led to the loss of lives and properties in a large magnitude, especially in Sindhupalchowk.
At the request of Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Lumbini Province, FAIRMED Nepal in joint collaboration with United Mission to Nepal (UMN) funded the Health Training Centre of Lumbini Province to organize a two-day training on operating portable ultrasound machine on 13th and 14th July at Hotel The Butwal View. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Maheshwor Shrestha (Director of Province Health Training Centre) in presence of Dr. Bikash Devkota (Secretary of MoHP, Lumbini Province) as chief guest.
Essential Health Project in coordination with Kotahimai rural municipality and Marchawari rural municipality of Rupandehi district organized training for HFOMC members on March 15 & 16 at Bogadhi Health Post and on March 18 & 19 at Raypur PHCC on the new HFOMC Guidelines (2075).
Eleven Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) of Sisawa Health Post, Maharajgunj Municipality participated in the training which was focused on sign/symptoms, preventive measures, treatment and self-care techniques of soil-transmitted helminths, leprosy and lymphatic filariasis.
