FAIRMED's relief support to flood affected families in Sindhupalchowk

With the onset of monsoon this year, Nepal witnessed heavy rainfall in most parts of the country. Continuous rain triggered flash floods and landslides everywhere, including Sindhupalchowk district in Bagmati Province. This year’s unabating rainfall led to the loss of lives and properties in a large magnitude, especially in Sindhupalchowk.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was one of the highly affected district in the country by the flooding. While many went missing in the floods, some lost their lives in the natural disaster. Likewise, many sustained injuries while others witnessed complete damage to their private properties. The flooding incidents also incurred complete as well partial damages to local infrastructure including concrete bridges, suspension bridges, roads, fisheries, security post, among others.

Given the circumstance and the fact that FAIRMED Nepal had worked in Sindhupalchowk to implement UPAKAR Project (Towards Recovery) as part of its post earthquake recovery initiative, it was only right to extend a hand of support to the people of the district at the time of such need. Therefore, FAIRMED in coordination with its implementing parter of UPAKAR Project, carried out distribution of relief items for the flood-displaced families in the highly affected areas of the district.
